Jett - ADOPTED
Meet the Puppy
Jett was found in a field by a volunteer at the Humane Society. Unfortunately, being at capacity, they reached out for help with this dude. Fortunately, he fit right in with the 4K Fido pack as the “annoying little brother.” He’s been a delightful addition, proving to be just as smart and spunky as his older pack brothers and sisters.

Temperament
Jett loves everyone and everything. If one of the 4K Fidos don’t want to play, he moves on to the next. He doesn’t take things personally, but likes to voice his opinion from time to time. He has two modes on and off. When he’s on, he all in, playing, running, having a ball. When he’s off, he sleeps so hard you wonder if he’s still alive. His best feature… when he’s tired, he walks to his crate, opens the door with his paw, and prances in to lie down. He loves his “den,” which is such a healthy and happy disposition for a dog. He does suffer from a bit of FOMO, and whimpers when he hears anything exciting happening outside of his “den” during nap time, but some tough love and he’ll learn to be patient! He is also a great leash walker, and really focused on his foster humans both on leash and in the yard. He aims to please, and sometimes aims too high and jumps and bumps you in the nose.
Needs
Jett needs a back yard. He’s long limbed and active. We think he’ll be a big guy, but we aren’t positive of his age, so it’s hard to guess. Once his teeth start dropping, we’ll have a better sense of what his actual age is. Traditional fencing is NOT required.
Jett will be best suited to an to an active family or couple, willing to give them regular walks, runs, trails, and adventures, and plenty of playtime. They should continue socialization with other dogs through puppy play dates. Jett is also a fantastic leash walker, and really clued into his pack leader.
Adopters should be ready to start PROFESSIONAL training with one of our recommended trainers around five-six months old to continue proper dog socialization, work on nice leash manners, and heel-side walking, structured walking, place command, and prepare for off-leash remote collar fun.
Those with balanced training experience, and prong/remote collar experience are preferred!
Jett has already started leash training on the Starmark and is doing fantastic (for a puppy) at walking at your heel. It’s a work in progress because he’s still a puppy, but we are really happy to see his progress. As an organization, we prefer balanced training over positive only, which is balanced between positive rewards, but also rules and structure to set boundaries. We are firm believers that the more rules you have for your dog when they are young, the more freedom they earn as they get older. So set down expectations and boundaries for your dog now with a trainer and the right tools, so they can be part of all the family fun!
Those who don’t believe in rules, routine, and structure for your dog, need not apply.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, we will only consider applicants where one adult has a more flexible schedule, as puppies are a lot of work, and will require potty breaks, exercise, training and continued human and dog socialization as they grow up.
Crate/Potty Training
All puppies and dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 8pm-6am (with a potty break around 11pm), and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Puppies also understand the basic concept of peeing outside, but there is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.
We always recommend keeping dogs crated during nap times, bed time, and when they are alone to protect them from danger such as chewing on cords, socks, and other objects. Foreign objects can get stuck in their stomachs which can result in a very expensive surgery. We also encourage using the crate like a bedroom for your dogs as they get older, where they can take naps, take a break from human interaction, and have a time out. More importantly, the crate provides them a safe place to go to when things get overwhelming, like a lot of people, loud noises, extreme weather. Think of the crate as their “den,” and a place for them to unwind. We all need a break sometimes!
