Daisy - ADOPTED
Meet the Puppy
We are blown away that in one month since Daisy has been posted, there has limited interested for this special gal! What’s not to love… smart, active, fun.
Daisy was surrendered to us way back when, with the Cheesy Canines. After surrendering the Cheesy Canines, the owner was quick to surrender any of the young dogs on his property. We thankfully spayed the remaining adult females on his property, in hopes to reduce the change of future puppies.
Unfortunately, upon Daisy’s first vet visit, we realized she was Heart Worm Positive. Treatment for heart worm in the south can only be administered during cooler months, because the heat index increases the chances of some gnarly side effects from the medication. So we had to wait until November to administer treatment, and then 90 days of treatment with limited activity, and then another 12 weeks of limited activity. But we are happy to announce that Daisy is Heart Worm NEGATIVE! She’s ready to find his fur-ever home.
We have had the opportunity to get to know Daisy, and even send her to board and train for a week with our Southern Trainer. Daisy has bouncy, excitable, lovable, and desperately aims to please. Much like her picture suggests, she is a scrappy goofball with so much love to give.

Temperament
Daisy, daisy, daisy. She reminds us a lot of Dobby from Harry Potter. Both in looks, and personality. She has deep set eyes and sad crooked ears that always make her look a little pathetic. When she meets someone new, she rolls on her back to in the most submissive state, to really earn that submissive “Dobby” status. But if you look beyond her sad looking self, she is a happy, goofy, lovable, funny gal. Daisy wants nothing more than to please her humans. The mere thought of disappointing them makes her so sad. She’s super playful, a nice level of energy, but really, all she wants it hugs and kisses. She gets along with the dogs in her foster home, and takes correction from the adults for her puppy energy very well. She would absolutely love a fur sibling to play with, or at the very least some dog friends in the neighborhood.
Daisy has had the opportunity to spend some time with our southern trainer prior to her arrival up north. We REQUIRE that Daisy works with one of our recommended northern trainers initially, implementing a balanced training method. WHY? Because she has thrived so beautifully in this method, gaining confidence and a great understanding of the line of communication. Additionally, we have invested both time and money into her training and future, and we don’t want to see her back track on the foundation she has set. We have already started the foundational work of balanced training. Daisy was a super fast learner, and is aimsplease. Adopters should be ready to progress into the next step of training which would be remote collar for off-leash fun! The first session is covered by us, and our recommended trainers will continue to work on confidence, manners, reliability, and FUN.
Those with balanced training experience, and prong/remote collar experience are preferred!
As an organization, we prefer balanced training over positive only, which is balanced between a ton of positive rewards, but also expectations, rules, and structure to set boundaries. We are firm believers that the more rules you have for your dog when they are young, the more freedom they earn as they get older. So set down expectations and boundaries for your dog now with a trainer and the right tools, so they can be part of all the family fun!
Those who don’t believe in rules, routine, and structure for your dog, need not apply.
Needs
Daisy needs regular activity. She’s equal parts athlete and couch potato. She would make a GREAT trail runner sidekick, hiking partner, adventure buddy. If she gets her solid walks in, she has a super lazy daisy side, preferring to sun bath wherever the sun hits the yard or floor.
Daisy loves all humans, and would be fine with kids. But based on her size, bounciness, and very excitable tail, we think it’s best if she’s adopted with older kids she can’t accidentally knock down.
Structure! Daisy missed that window to really lay down the foundation for puppies. But don’t worry, it’s NEVER too late to train a dog to be a fantastic listener, and she’s about 75% of the way there. Structure and guidance will help take her from good dog to an AMAZING dog.
Daisy needs a back yard. It doesn’t need to be big, but her love for sunbathing is real.
Most importantly, Daisy needs love and boundaries. It’s a balance of both that will bring out her inner beauty!
Crate/Potty Training
All puppies and dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Puppies also understand the basic concept of peeing outside, but there is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.
We always recommend keeping dogs crated during nap times, bed time, and when they are alone to protect them from danger such as chewing on cords, socks, and other objects. Foreign objects can get stuck in their stomachs which can result in a very expensive surgery. We also encourage using the crate like a bedroom for your dogs as they get older, where they can take naps, take a break from human interaction, and have a time out. More importantly, the crate provides them a safe place to go to when things get overwhelming, like a lot of people, loud noises, extreme weather. Think of the crate as their “den,” and a place for them to unwind. We all need a break sometimes!
