Fresh Fidos - ADOPTED

Another story of a pregnant mother, deserted in a populated area in hopes that she would become someone else’s problem. Fortunately, a kind soul took her in and named her Nova, which is latin for new beginning or a fresh start. And that is certainly what Nova got, a fresh start with a new family.

Nova, a 40-50lb lab/cur/who-knows-what mutt, gave birth to six healthy puppies, nursed and cared for them. We were contacted just after they were born, provided the family food for Nova, rescued them as they weaned off their Mother’s milk, and covered the cost to spay Nova to ensure she would have a lifetime without any more liters.

The six puppies were named like their Mama, as all their names mean “NEW” in another language. These puppies have never seen hardship or trauma, loved on by all their foster family humans, canines, and felines. This liter is one of the most loving, affectionate liter we have ever witnessed, wanting to give and get all the cuddles.

Temperament

These are typical puppies who were lucky enough to be in our loving care from day one. With continued proper socialization and professional training (A MUST), they will be great family members. They are still affectionate, goofy, very active puppies. Given their breed guess, these pups are not yard dogs, and those adopting should expect walks, adventures, and activity. More personality details below.

Needs

These puppies will be best suited to an to an active family or couple, willing to give them regular walks, runs, trails, and adventures, and plenty of playtime. They should continue socialization with other dogs through puppy classes or play dates. Adopters should be ready to start PROFESSIONAL training (we will provide recommendations) around five-six months old to continue proper dog socialization, work on nice leash manners, and heel-side walking, and prepare for off-leash fun.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, we will only consider applicants where one adult has a more flexible schedule, as puppies are a lot of work, and will require potty breaks, exercise, training and continued human and dog socialization as they grow up.

Crate/Potty Training

All puppies and dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Puppies also understand the basic concept of peeing outside, but there is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.

As with ANY and ALL dogs, this dog would benefit GREATLY from professional training to continue to work on good leash manners, place command, and off-leash recall. We always recommend keeping young dogs crated when they are alone to keep them putting themselves in danger (chewing on cords, eating things that can get stuck in their stomachs, etc…)

Vetting

All dogs rescued by FAVOR are spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption, as well as vaccinated for rabies, bortedella, DA2P (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and parvovirus).

Puppies WILL REQUIRE DA2P 3rd booster shots when age appropriate (between 14-18 weeks of age) at the expense of the adopter. It is also recommended to get the LYME-LEPTO combination vaccine in New England. All dogs and up to date on heart worm medication and flea and tick topical treatment.
*Rabies must be administered after 12 weeks of age. If puppies travel before 12 weeks, then we will refund adopters $15 towards the cost of their rabies shot.
