Bailey - ADOPTED
Meet Bailey
Bailey is approximately 2-3 years old, and a loving and playful mutt. She wandered into a neighborhood, pregnant with seven Happy Hounds. She gave birth, nursed, and cared for her young while the good samaritans fed and cared for her before reaching out to us for help. She stayed with her young until they were old enough to explore the world on their own. Now that her kids are settling into their homes, she is ready to find a home of her own.

Temperament
Bailey has quite the personality. While she may hide or grumble at first sight, she quickly turns into a pile of mush, showing off her belly, smiling with that big under bite of a smile, sitting in your lap, or begging you for pets. She’s a lot smaller then her photos appear, and really finds Her ears are incredibly animated, both up when she looks up for direction, but one down, one up when she’s having fun.
Bailey is selective with with pups she plays with, either ignoring those who don’t want to play with her, or roughhousing ones who show interest. She won’t be a dog park gal, but she’ll be eager to make some neighborhood friends.
She loves long walks, trail walks, fetch, tug, car rides, and lots of cuddle time. She’s smart and saavy and quite responsive to her name. Bailey is ready for her own humans to love her.
Needs
Bailey would do best in a relatively quiet home with not TOO much coming and going. She’d be best as the only canine in the house, giving her the attention she needs and deserves. An active family, ready to take her on walks, trails, and car rides. One willing to work with her stranger danger, and give her the time, patience, and training to come out of her shell.
We will require that Bailey works with one of our recommended trainers, implementing a balanced training method. We have already started the foundational work of balanced training with her. She walks wonderfully at your heel-side using the proper tools. Purely positive training is not a good fit for this nervous nelly. We’ve seen her confidence grow in balanced training, so we want her to continue to thrive. Our recommended trainers will continue to to work on her confidence around new people, and get her ready for off-leash fun.
Training
All dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to two 2-3 hour crate naps a day day. Dogs are also potty trained with doggie door access. There is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.
As with ANY and ALL dogs, this dog would benefit GREATLY from professional training to continue to work on good leash manners, place command, and off-leash recall. We always recommend keeping young dogs crated when they are alone to keep them putting themselves in danger (chewing on cords, eating things that can get stuck in their stomachs, etc…)
Vetting
All dogs rescued by FAVOR are spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption, as well as vaccinated for rabies, bortedella, DA2PL (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and parvovirus). They are up-to-date on flea/tick topical treatment, heartworm medication, and de-worming treatment (if necessary).
Puppies WILL require DA2PL 3rd booster shots when age appropriate (between 14-18 weeks of age) at the expense of the adopter. It is also recommended to get the LYME-LEPTO combination vaccine in New England at the expense of the adopter.
