Meet Wilson

Named after Tim Allen’s funny neighbor from the show Tool Time, Wilson was found in a neighbor’s backyard. He just showed up one day, and decided not to leave. Despite efforts to find his owner, he seemed to be purposefully lost. Wilson is a good, well-mannered, fun-seeking 1.5-2 year old Husky/Hound/Shepherd mix (our best guess).

He is a happy dog, without a care in the world. He wants to play, play, play with dogs, and would be a great adventure partner. He gets along with humans of ALL ages and size. He is ready for a big back yard and any and all hiking adventures.

Temperment

Wilson is just a big old GOOBER. He loves to play with toys, dogs, and humans alike. He’s even tempered, and hasn’t met a dog or person he doesn’t like. He plays hard, and crashes hard. He loves a good cuddle and belly rubs, and would prefer to be his human’s shadow. He's started training to become a model citizen, and is ready to find a family to call his own.

Like all dogs, he will need someone willing to set rules and boundaries, which will ultimately lead to more freedom and way more fun.

Needs

Wilson is best suited to an active single, couple or family with older kids. The family must be willing to give them regular long walks and adventures, and plenty of playtime. He also needs a back yard, because he loves to sit and sun bath and just roll around in the grass all day. Those who work full time should expect to utilize a dog walker or dog day care to help burn some of that young energy. Wilson has started balanced and remote collar training with a partner trainer, and we will require that the adoptee does a free transitional session, and hopefully some continuous education with the trainer to learn how to use the walking and off-leash tools! He is eager to please, and picking up new rules and skills very quickly!

Training

All dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Dogs are also potty trained with doggie door access. There is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.

As with ANY and ALL dogs, this dog would benefit GREATLY from professional training to continue to work on good leash manners, place command, and off-leash recall. We always recommend keeping young dogs crated when they are alone to keep them putting themselves in danger (chewing on cords, eating things that can get stuck in their stomachs, etc…)

Vetting

All dogs rescued by FAVOR are spayed/neutered before adoption, as well as vaccinated for rabies, bortedella, DA2PL (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and parvovirus). Puppies WILL require DA2PL 3rd booster shots when age appropriate (between 14-18 weeks of age). It is also recommended to get the lyme vaccine in New England. All dogs and up to date on heart worm, flea, and tick treatment.
