Meet Lincoln

Lincoln is a 5-6 month old lab mix. We actually believe that he’s a pure lab, but there may be something else mix in there. He was adopted by a retired couple that were neglecting to care for him properly. One of our volunteers was alerted to his home situation, and convinced them to surrender him. They were eager to let him go, and that is when we became part of the FAVOR family!

Lincoln is a very goofy, happy dog, and smart dog. He loves to play with toys and is obsessed with water. He also gets along with humans of ALL age and size. He is ready for adventures and a big back yard to romp around in!

Temperment

Lincoln is your typical lab, who thrives off human attention, is smart and easy to train, who loves to play, and loves the water. He is currently fostered with kids and dogs, and loves all the playtime he gets with them. His foster Mom sees potential for him to become a service dog, and offer some of his love and affection to others in a volunteer setting like a senior home, rehabilitation centers, or hospitals.

Like all puppies, he will need someone willing to set rules and boundaries, which will ultimately lead to more freedom and fun. An adopter with balanced training is preferred, or an adopter willing to work with a trainer from our list of recommendations.

Needs

Lincoln is best suited to an active couple of family, willing to give them regular walks and adventures, and plenty of playtime. Those who work full time should expect to utilize a dog walker or dog day care to help burn some of that puppy energy. Lincoln is old enough to start training, and his foster Mom has started to work on basics, but we encourage continued training for both canine and humans.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, we will only consider applicants where one adult has a more flexible schedule, as young dogs are a lot of work, and will require potty breaks, exercise, training and continued human and dog socialization as they grow up.

Training

All dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Dogs are also potty trained with doggie door access. There is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.

As with ANY and ALL dogs, this dog would benefit GREATLY from professional training to continue to work on good leash manners, place command, and off-leash recall. We always recommend keeping young dogs crated when they are alone to keep them putting themselves in danger (chewing on cords, eating things that can get stuck in their stomachs, etc…)

Vetting

All dogs rescued by FAVOR are spayed/neutered before adoption, as well as vaccinated for rabies, bortedella, DA2PL (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, leptospirosis and parvovirus). Puppies WILL require DA2PL 3rd booster shots when age appropriate (between 14-18 weeks of age). It is also recommended to get the lyme vaccine in New England. All dogs and up to date on heart worm, flea, and tick treatment.
