Meet the Puppy

Marron was surrendered to us by an senior who found her. We don’t know much about her back story. It is likely she was scolded heavily and physically abused as a puppy, due to her general timidness towards adults and her fear of yelling. But despite her fears, she is such a sweet and soft soul who is looking for someone to love her, but also take her out of her comfort zone and continue to build her confidence.

Temperament & Needs

Marron is sweet, but sensitive and submissive. She’s a little nervous nelly, who retreats to her crate in new situations, has a slight fear of adults, but LOVES children. Her eyes light up at the sight of any kids. She can come off as very shy and timid, but once you crack her shy shell, she’s super sweet and easy going. She also loves to play fetch and splash around in water. Once you get to know her, she does love human attention, but patiently waits for you to give it to her. With continued proper socialization and professional training, she will be such a fun member of any family. She would be a perfect match for a household that does not have a constant or daily parade of new people in and our of the house. Marron is a perfect dog for active empty nesters with some grandkids to love her. She is ready for long walks, adventures, and more!

Marron is currently being fostered by our northern trainer, and those looking to adopt Marron will be REQUIRED to continue training with the same trainer and methodology. The first session is covered by us!

We have already started the foundational work of balanced training with her using a prong and Educator remote collar as communication tools. She is learning to walk wonderfully at your heel-side, and really starting to trust the humans to take her fun places thanks to the tools we have implemented. Marron is ready for an adopter ready to continue building up her confidence with these tools.

Purely positive training is not a good fit for this nervous nelly. We’ve seen her confidence grow in balanced training, so we want her to continue to thrive. Any potential adopter, along with the trainer, should continue to to work on her confidence and calmness around new people, and get her ready for off-leash fun.

We are firm believers that the more rules you have for your dog when they are young, the more freedom they earn as they get older. So set down expectations and clear communication with your dog now with a trainer, so they can be part of all the family fun!

Crate/Potty Training

All puppies and dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Puppies also understand the basic concept of peeing outside, but there is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.

We always recommend keeping dogs crated during nap times, bed time, and when they are alone to protect them from danger such as chewing on cords, socks, and other objects. Foreign objects can get stuck in their stomachs which can result in a very expensive surgery. We also encourage using the crate like a bedroom for your dogs, where they can take naps, sleep overnight, take a break from human interaction, have a time out, have a safe place to go to when things get overwhelming, like a lot of people, loud noises, extreme weather. Think of the crate as their “den,” and a place for them to unwind. We all need a break sometimes!
