Meet the Puppy

Brute was found along with three of his siblings. The finder decided to post him on Facebook to try to find good homes, but as soon as we saw their photos, we knew they were malnourished, dehydrated, and ill. These pups could not be separated and needed veterinary neonatal care. Unfortunately, the other three did not survive. Brute name comes from his fierce will to survive and strong personality. He’s a fighter, who will live on to tell his tale.

Temperament & Needs

Brute is a typical manipulative puppy, always trying to get his way. He thrives with rules and structure, and loves attention and all the extra cuddles you have to give. He’s a big goofball with other dogs, but can also be a tyrant who just wants to constantly play. With continued proper dog socialization and professional training, he will be such a fun member of any family.

Those ready to adopt a puppy like Brute, should also be prepared to set down rules and structure for this slightly stubborn personality. He needs an active couple or family, ready to take him on walks, adventures, car rides, and more!

All adopters should be ready to start with our rescue-recommended PROFESSIONAL trainer around five-six months old to continue proper dog socialization, work on nice leash manners, and heel-side walking, place command, and prepare for off-leash fun. This pup would do best with Balanced Training, living a life set with boundaries, but also enjoying so much more freedom and fun.

We are firm believers that the more rules you have for your dog when they are young, the more freedom they earn as they get older. If you set down expectations and clear communication with your dog at a young age with a trainer, they can be part of all the family fun!

Crate/Potty Training

All puppies and dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 9pm-6am, and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Puppies also understand the basic concept of peeing outside, but there is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.

We always recommend keeping dogs crated during nap times, bed time, and when they are alone to protect them from danger such as chewing on cords, socks, and other objects. Foreign objects can get stuck in their stomachs which can result in a very expensive surgery. We also encourage using the crate like a bedroom for your dogs, where they can take naps, sleep overnight, take a break from human interaction, have a time out, have a safe place to go to when things get overwhelming, like a lot of people, loud noises, extreme weather. Think of the crate as their “den,” and a place for them to unwind. We all need a break sometimes!
